Dr Harry: How Often Should You Visit Your Vet?

Have you ever wondered how many times a year you should be taking your pets to the vet? Wonder no more! We sat down with Dr Harry to clarify just how many times your dog or cat generally needs a check up.

“For young animals, you’re going to go through that vaccination phase and that rapid growth phase, and I think those animals need a close eye on.”

“But, later in life, I think, is the most important. That’s when you really need to be having a regular visit to your vet.”

“Once your dog or your cat hits double figures, in other words 10 years of age, I think you need to be going annually and that’s aside from routine vaccination. And lots of dogs live to 15 years of age and cats live to 20 years of age no problem at all! I think that’s twice a year, every six months you should be going.”

“If you know your dog or cat has a specific problem, then you need to be going on a regular basis. That may be as much as monthly or every six weeks or every three months.”

“Your vet is there to tell you how often should be going.”
